Meet the Chef

José Antonio Velázquez Martínez
Originally from Mexico City, his passion for gastronomy started in his childhood; his dream of becoming a professional in the kitchen began when his parents decided to manage a restaurant. Once he started his studies in the industry, he finally graduated in Haute Cuisine and Food and Beverage Management. 

At the age of 20, José got his first position as Head Chef. He continued his professional career in luxury hotels, where he supervised the operation of buffets and different restaurants and bars. Afterward, he joined other hotel chains as Head Chef, an experience that allowed him to continue his culinary journey throughout Mexico.

He also had the opportunity to show his abilities in the Dominican Republic for one year. Subsequently, he returned home to join the culinary team at Grand Velas Los Cabos, where he delights guests at the Azul restaurant.
