Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (November 7, 2017) - Grand Velas Los Cabos has been awarded the AAA Five Diamond Award completing the Grand Velas collection's clean sweep of the top distinction and making it the group with the most Five Diamonds outside of the United States. Five Diamonds is the top level a resort can receive, having demonstrated "ultimate luxury, sophistication and comfort with extraordinary physical attributes, meticulous personalized service, extensive amenities and impeccable standards of excellence" to an anonymous inspector according to the AAA website. Grand Velas Los Cabos offers the next generation of all-inclusive amenities and facilities including a selection of gourmet specialty restaurants led by top chefs, including two star Michelin chef Sidney Schutte; oversize designer suites, some with plunge pools; a world class spa; staff ratio of 3 to 1; exceptional meeting facilities, and a commitment to the environment.

The diamond awards looks at the overall quality of the resort, along with a range of facilities and the overall hospitality of the resort. When resorts are identified as potential recipients of the Five Diamond Rating, they undergo multiple inspections, all unannounced.

From 28,000 hotels evaluated, only 112 received a five diamond rating this year. Grand Velas Los Cabos isn't the only resort in the Grand Velas family to receive this honor; Grand Velas Riviera Maya and Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit both have received the AAA Five Diamond Award since 2010 and 2007 respectively.
