Let me preface this commentary that both my wife and I have been very privileged to have stayed at a number of FABULOUS resorts in the US, Mexico and abroad. We have enjoyed the other Grand Velas resorts in Rivera Nayarit and Playa del Carmen. They are ALL outstanding! We just finished a 5 night escape to the new Grand Velas in Los Cabos which is OVER THE TOP! It appears the management has taken their best concepts from the other resorts and incorporated them here! Having the luxury to savor the 5 nights at the brand new Grand Velas allowed us to have a taste around the world. The main buffet restaurant, Azul, for breakfast and casual meals was incredible! The staff that assisted there, especially, Juan Manuel was extremely attentive. Our suite was immaculate and huge! Many amenities were included at this all inclusive resort including binoculars to view the whales jumping and swimming.The staff at the pool were so attentive, particularly, Moises and Emilio! You MUST have dinner at the Cocina de Autor, the bartender, Diego makes a special cocktail that must be seen to understand! We were spoiled to have Hilda as our and I feel “OUR personal” sommelier who followed us from Frida to Velas 10, Piaf and Luca! What a special touch! Each restaurant was incredibly special in it’s own way, from the detailed decor to the menus. A shout out to Carla at the Sky Bar and the Koi Bar….she covered both and make a point to visit ALL the restaurants and bars! We were thrilled that the chefs came out and visited with us! Go figure….a french chef at Piaf, a Italian chef @ Luca, a Michelin chef @ Cocina de Autor and incredible talent at Velas 10 (You MUST have the Tomahawk steak and lobster…OMG!) We were celebrating a milestone birthday for my wife and the chef @ the Michelin restaurant came out and visited with us with an incredible dessert for my wife! Also, kudos to Omar, our waiter @ Piaf, Ulysses @ Velas 10, Pablo helping us at the pool and Yumi, our bartender @ Luca that was patient to explain their specialty drink and show us how its made. I understand that they are finishing up a wine tasting bar and looking at establishing some cooking classes too! This is a vacation on steroids! We will DEFINITELY be returning I hope sooner vs. later! My goal is to spend 2-3 visits a year being pampered @ Grand Velas, Los Cabos!
